Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and RS Standard LLC (“RecallHound,” “we,” “us”). They apply when you use the RecallHound connector through an AI assistant, connect to our server directly, or visit recallhound.app. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What the service does

RecallHound compares item descriptions and vehicle identifiers against public records published by U.S. government agencies, including the CPSC, NHTSA, and FDA, and returns possible matches with links to the official notices. It also returns public vehicle data such as complaints, crash ratings, and fuel economy.

2. Not a safety guarantee

• RecallHound reports known federal recalls. It does not inspect, test, or certify any product or vehicle.
• A result of “no known recall found” does not mean an item is safe, legal to sell, or free of defects.
• Matching is automated and imperfect. It can miss a recall or flag the wrong item. Always confirm the brand, model number, and dates against the official notice before you rely on a result.
• Government data can be incomplete, delayed, or corrected later. We do not control it.
• Vehicle checks do not include accident, title, lien, flood, or theft history.

RecallHound provides information only. It is not legal, safety, mechanical, or medical advice. You are responsible for your own decisions to buy, sell, use, or dispose of any item.

3. AI assistants

You may reach RecallHound through a third party AI assistant. That assistant may summarize, reword, or add to our results, and we are not responsible for what it says or does. The assistant provider’s own terms apply to your use of the assistant. RecallHound is independent and is not affiliated with Meta Platforms, Inc. or any other assistant provider.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• overload the service, get around rate limits, or interfere with its operation;
• submit personal information about other people;
• use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass or defame a seller or manufacturer;
• resell or rebrand the service, or build a competing dataset from its output, without our written permission;
• present RecallHound results as a certification or guarantee of safety.

Businesses that want to use RecallHound at volume can contact us about a commercial arrangement.

5. Ownership

Government recall records are public. The RecallHound name, logo, software, and matching methods belong to RS Standard LLC. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service as these terms allow.

6. Availability and changes

The service is free and offered as a convenience. We may change it, limit it, suspend it, or shut it down at any time without notice. We may introduce paid features in the future, and we will tell you before anything you use becomes paid.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that results are complete, current, or error free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RS Standard LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, property damage, or loss arising from your reliance on the service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify RS Standard LLC against claims, losses, and costs that arise from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version takes effect when it is posted here with a new effective date. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the updated terms.

12. General

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the service.
